DKJ projects. architecture in conjunction with Woodhead were engaged to deliver seven new food and beverage outlets within the Terminal Building at Darwin International Airport.
Phase one of the works included an exciting new Asian restaurant concept called Bumbu offering travelers a mix of grab and go items as well as made to order favorites from the South East Asian region. The Bumbu concept is the first of its kind in Australia and was developed in conjunction with local Delaware North and Darwin restaurant owner Jimmy Shu, who owns and operates the well-known Hanuman Restaurant in Darwin and Alice Springs. In addition, a Hungry Jack outlet and the Giaan Carlo Café & Bar on the ground floor were delivered during phase one.
Future phases will include a new Bar with air side views in the expanded domestic departures area, a secondary coffee offer on the ground floor next to check- in and new healthier eating concept ‘Fraiche’ on the first floor, alongside Bumbu and Hungry Jacks. Two new offers will also be unveiled in the international lounge during this phase.
