Our client approached us with a vision to transform a unique site in Hackney into a refined collection of townhouses that would blend contemporary design with the site’s rich heritage. Working collaboratively, we delivered a boutique series of seven architecturally designed residences, carefully positioned behind the heritage-listed Hackney Hotel to respect and enhance the historic character of the site.

Each townhouse spans multiple levels and features three well-appointed bedrooms, a light-filled open-plan kitchen, living and dining area, and a private cellar, offering both practicality and a sense of everyday luxury. A dedicated light court within each dwelling brings natural light deep into the internal spaces, softening transitions and creating a strong indoor-outdoor connection within an urban context.

The homes are supported by a secure basement car park, ensuring convenience and clean street activation, while private rooftop terraces provide a rare opportunity for elevated outdoor living, perfect for entertaining or enjoying a quiet moment overlooking the leafy Hackney surrounds.

The material palette was chosen to complement the heritage building and broader site context, combining light façades, timber accents, and textured stonework to deliver a timeless, natural aesthetic. Internally, each residence is designed for modern living, balancing warmth, light, and functionality throughout.

Positioned just steps from the River Torrens, Linear Park, and Adelaide’s vibrant East End, this development brings together heritage and modernity in a seamless way. It’s been a rewarding project that reflects our passion for thoughtful, place-responsive design, delivering homes that feel both connected and quietly sophisticated.
